Be the miracle
We are in the clutches of leaders that are all talk when it comes to the existential crisis of climate change and pollution, and they’re all action when it comes to taking away our civil liberties.
What we desire is love and pleasure, security and frivolity, meaning and purpose - what we get is fear-mongering, lies and corruption. We long for love and connection, what we get is surveillance technology.
Whose fault is it? Well, who cares? We gotta get out of this place, and there’s no time to waste. By now, our best bet is a miracle - so, let’s create a miracle, is what I say.
We need to come together in small groups, we need to get close and hug. What we need is a way of living that allows all the members of these groups to truly connect to the wisdom of our shared humanity. What we need is mutual care and assistance, some food, a roof above our heads, and the warmth of shared bodies.
Every day, there is a bombardment of propaganda about all the evil in this world. From Netflix to CNN, and from your local rag to the richest people in the world, it is all about making you live in fear. Because fear keeps you docile and compliant.
But there is nothing to fear, not really. We are alive now, and we will die at some point in the future. There is no great drama in that. What would be a great drama, is living half a life while you’re waiting for a change to come. Why live in fear, when you could be living in abundance? And I’m not talking about the spoils of mediocre capitalist luxury, I’m talking about the very real pleasure of touch, connection, and feeling that Love is a force and that you are love in action.
So, no more being afraid. Choose life. Choose joy. Sadness doesn’t serve anyone, nor does resentment or anger. You will die soon anyway, but you are alive now. Reorganise your life, come together in small groups and have fun; search for pleasure, and act in a way that you would want all others to act at all times.
There is not much time left, and if our best bet is a miracle, then we need to create that miracle ourselves. And we can only create miracles if we come out into the open, and say, ‘Being human is the greatest thing, and I’m going to dive into my humanity with all my might. I will be the example, and not the warning. I will be the light, and I hope you will come with me.’
